Hailing from Monroe, NY, Mimicking Mars is a psychedelic indie rock group known for infectious grooves, heartfelt lyrics, and dynamic live energy. Formed in 2020 by Jeremy Lanuti, James Dawson, Josh LeViseur, and Bobby Malone, the band began as a creative outlet during the pandemic and quickly evolved into a tight-knit musical family.
Now based in Syracuse, NY, Mimicking Mars is entering an exciting new chapter. Adding members Robert Wilhelm on bass and Grant Harding on keys, the band is reshaping their sonic structure. Their latest single, “$4.75,” is their seventh release, following their debut studio album Janky Jones & the Blackjack Blues. Together, these works reflect the dedication, passion, and creative chemistry they’ve built over the past few years.
2025 has been a breakout year for the group. They have played with acts such as Jakob’s Castle, Kendall Street Company, Kids That Fly, Big Shrimp, and One Time Weekend. They performed on Bethel Woods’ Horizon Stage, and were also featured on The Grateful Dead’s official Instagram page, connecting the group with a wider audience in the jam-rock and indie communities.
As 20 Watts Magazine wrote, “The band’s high-energy music mixed with their sumptuous stage presence practically forced the audience to dance and jump around.” With every performance, they pour in heart and creativity. Mimicking Mars continues to push their musical limits and share their love of music with anyone who will listen.
